This email invites you to bring big ideas!
In this City, we are surrounded by evidence that paying attention to diverse views gets results.
This past weekend, our family had some fun cycling the seawall and enjoying Vancouver architecture from Olympic Village to Jericho Beach. The seawall experience exists thanks to big ideas and diverse input from City planners, provincial and federal environmental agencies, architects, expert consultants, community advisors, as well as investors in land development.
Right now, we need big ideas and diverse input to address the housing crisis.
BC Housing says middle income households earn $50,000 to $168,000 per year. Most jobs fall into this income range, including nurses, teachers, carpenters, software developers, marketing specialists, and accountants. Middle income jobs are essential to our economy. Without building more rental apartments, people with mid-level incomes will either choose not to live here or they will rent what places are available (leaving the most vulnerable homeless).
Great outcomes stem from candid conversations. What’s the worst that could happen exchanging ideas and creating a project together with partners whose interests are very different from yours? Let’s be open about those issues. Channel will facilitate the dialogue that will unlock results.
Clients make the choice to work with us because we are specialists in land use regulations in the Lower Mainland. We support a wide range of clients, including private equity, government, and non-profits. We work on affordable housing, purpose-built rental housing, industrial, port terminal, and public infrastructure projects. No matter the sector, clients consistently tell us that they love and feel proud of what they accomplish working with Channel Consulting.
In this highly regulated environment, projects proceed only with government support. The next municipal election is less than 18 months away. A year from now, six months before the election, we expect Councils will start to shy away from making decisions. How can we support your big ideas and help you to put the building blocks for success in place?
If you need help, please give me a call.
