The team at Channel Consulting is grateful to live and work on the ancestral lands of the Coast Salish peoples, of the Sḵwx̱wú7mesh (Squamish), Stó:lō and Səl̓ílwətaʔ/Selilwitulh (Tsleil-Waututh) and xʷməθkʷəy̓əm (Musqueam) Nations, and of the lək̓ʷəŋən speaking peoples, the Songhees and Xwsepsum (Esquimalt) Nations.
We acknowledge that all our work takes place on the land of these nations and many other nations, and we are committed to learning about and respecting the interests of the local nations for all projects we are involved with.
Our team members recognize, acknowledge, and appreciate their privilege as settlers on this land, and the benefits they realize due to their own race, gender, sexual orientation, and education.
We are committed to receiving feedback on and recognizing our own unconscious biases, challenging the biases of others when we see them, educating ourselves about Indigenous history, interests and rights, and to being an ally for all marginalized and discriminated people on these lands.
There is much listening to do to understand what it looks like to be working together in true partnership to right these historic wrongs and advance reconciliation in concrete, meaningful, and lasting ways. We are aware that every project is different and requires a thoughtful and intentional approach, and we are one of the leaders who committed to carry out the meaningful engagement required to support reconciliation.
